From day one I’ve wanted to create a business which offers the best service to customers. We created a Gift Concierge service to help customers purchase the perfect gift and also to ensure that the recipient of the gift has no inconveniences at all. We have gone out of our way to keep our promise and the result has always been happy customers which makes it all worthwhile! Here are some examples Our customer from Australia wanted to send her sister a luxurious spa experience for her birthday which fell on a Sunday. So we checked with several courier companies for Sunday … Read Full Post

2012 – What a year!

Posted by Pooja Lal on at

2012 was a year of new beginnings, excitement, hard work, struggles, disappointments, frustrations, nerves, fear and most of all, hope. With a new business in my world I don’t think 2013 will be any different! The last few months have been very hectic starting with Diwali and then New Years corporate orders and now all the preparation for Valentine’s Day. Diwali was a fantastic experience. We got our hands dirty with multiple corporate gifts orders, numerous individual customer queries and heaps of online orders. It was heart warming to see the interest people had in our new concept and the feedback we … Read Full Post

One month into business and the excitement continues!

Posted by Pooja Lal on at

Sincere apologies for my long absence since my last blog. It has been one hell of a roller coaster ride! So, with the office set up, website live and operational and staff recruited all I was waiting for was orders! And they came! Albeit, a few to begin with but now the trickle has improved to a dribble and the feeling is amazing! Complete strangers are going to my website and buying things! What a wonderful feeling I say. We are creating beautiful memories for these people; they are buying gifts with personal messages and gift boxes and we are … Read Full Post

The Final Countdown…. !

Posted by Pooja Lal on at

My business partner is itching to launch our website and I’m trying to delay it as much as possible. Why? Well it’s like you have spent months creating this beautiful thing and now you have to let it go into the outside world for everyone to see and experience. The anxiety, stress, apprehension, nervousness and sheer excitement is difficult to bear! All I’m thinking is “Will people like it?”, “Did I cover everything?”, “Are there any mistakes?”, “How will it all play out?” etc. etc. The partnerships are in place, the website is looking good, the packaging is ready, the … Read Full Post

Putting out fires…. one mad issue at a time!

Posted by Pooja Lal on at

It’s been a while since I blogged last but setting up a new office and dealing with Nanny changes all at once is a hard task. Here is what I have been dealing with the last couple of weeks! New Office: Like I mentioned in my earlier blog, I found my dream office… well the dream office comes with a few not so dreamy issues! No power back up! Great! Now apart from the 20,000 things I already had on my to-do list I have to add (1)    Buy A/C – with any major purchase my husband insists we get … Read Full Post

Find office space…. Find husband… same story!

Posted by Pooja Lal on at

My goodness! How hard is it to find an office space in this country! Between words like ‘scare feet’ (aka Square feet) and ‘bare shell’ (aka unfurnished)…. I’ve had it! You just cannot operate a new business in Gurgaon unless you have squillion rupees to splurge on things like a decent office. Yes, I don’t even mean ‘swanky’ or ‘plush’ – just ‘decent’. If you don’t have the squillion then I’m sorry you will be downgraded from ‘decent’ to ‘shady’ or ‘basic’. I recall my ex-boss telling me to be careful not to waste money on the office and that … Read Full Post

Online India… the web of milk and honey

Posted by Pooja Lal on at

India was shining and now its booming. Rich are getting richer, poor are where they were, the growing middle class is growing at great speeds and we have a new world of online entrepreneurs putting India on the world map! I decided I had to gain entry into that club of online entrepreneurs; after all I am married to an online entrepreneur (see www.bestphonedeals.com.au) and digital marketing professional. (See www.oneclickcustomers.com). But first, THE STRATEGY: (~takes me back to my LBS days) The WHO: Internet users in India have crossed the 100 million mark with Indians surfing the net via desktops, laptops, Ipads, mobile … Read Full Post

Working Mother to New Age Business Owner!

Posted by Pooja Lal on at

People say ‘hey it’s a short life’ as a justification of doing almost anything out of the ordinary or things they shouldn’t be doing like having that extra slice of chocolate cake or buying a new pair of shoes! We go through so much in the span of 80-90 years right from school, college, marriage, kids, their school, their college, their marriages, their kids etc. etc. Not to mention the struggles of your career, family, relationships, keeping a house in order, maids, water shortage, electricity shortage, corruption, inefficiency, bad roads, even worse traffic… the list goes on. So much happens in … Read Full Post
