Posted by Pooja Lal on at

Birthday Parties are indeed fun and such memorable occasions. Last Sunday we celebrated a very close friend’s birthday at Euriska, Pune. Now for any successful and wonderful birthday experience, preparation is a serious task. But we didn’t have to worry because Euriska looked after every little detail. We had a lovely 3 course menu planned with some excellent Greek appetizers like Olive puffs and spanakopitas -our all time favorite dishes. There were freshly baked pizzas that came after that. Then there was Penne with Caponata and some other dishes as well that went very well with the white wine served. … Read Full Post

oh god, not another toaster! Wedding gifts with no feeling :(

Posted by Pooja Lal on at

Haven’t we all been through this? We spend a bomb on the wedding, making sure each person is taken care of, our parents buy gifts for all the family members and spend more than they had initially planned… and in the end there are some guests who give you gifts which you will never ever use in your entire life! Who needs another crystal bowl, or some weird looking showpiece or another toaster?! Isn’t it better not to get any gifts? Maybe getting cash is best? But what emotions are associated with giving someone cash? Is it not too impersonal? … Read Full Post

The lights in our balcony are on, her Indian salwar kameezes, lenhgas are out – she has organised her bangles , ‘party shoes’ and even bindis so that she is ready to party for Diwali! So I decided to delight her by having a little Diwali celebration for her and her friends at home. We invited her friends and cousins for a party a few days ago – and my daughter hand made all the invites and even made sure I wrote the dress code as ‘Nice … Read Full Post

No, we don’t offer crockery or silver coins!

Posted by Pooja Lal on at

Why are companies hung up on giving their employees and clients things they already have?! Do you really want another crystal piece with an ugly logo engraved in it? Or a digital photo frame? or the 5th toaster? Why can’t businesses wake up and smell the change in gifting?! People aren’t interested in the ‘branded items’ that they have been receiving for the last two decades! They want something better, they want a change, they want something they will actually enjoy! Don’t you want your employees to talk about their gift? Don’t you want them to tell all their friends … Read Full Post

Rishikesh – for every kind of traveller.

If you are in the city you must witness the Ganga Aarti at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram every evening, it is not as crowded or as commercial as Aarti held in Varanasi and in Haridwar. The scale is much smaller yet it’s still nice to see it at least once. A … Read Full Post
